New Zealand has quickly become one of my favourite countries in the world, resulting in me choosing to call this incredible country home for the foreseeable future. I have a feeling that by the end of my time here, it will solidly stand at number 1.
Considering this BEAUTIFUL country is located over 18,000 km away from the UK, I can understand if it might take a bit of convincing to get you out here. Don’t worry, the 30-hour plane journey isn’t as bad as it sounds… (am I lying?).
SO WHAT MAKES THIS PLACE SO AMAZING!?
I have never felt so relaxed as I do in NZ. The vibe is ultra-chill and life is lived in slow motion. No pressures and no rush…just a hella good time.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s just as much the people in the place who make the experience what it is. Travelling to a new country is always going to be daunting, so when the residents are so welcoming it makes all the difference. Make sure you try to talk to locals!
THE KIWI EXPERIENCE. All aboard, all aboard! This tour is super super fun and will provide you with memories to last a lifetime.
A tour aimed at backpackers, this bus attracts some of the funniest young travellers in the world, all gathered together for some serious backpacker fun. Couldn’t recommend it more!
From homegrown cheap as chips avocados to the freshest seafood you can find, New Zealand delivers the foodie goods. Finding the time to try it all is the problem…
In between white water rafting, abseiling into caves and jumping out of planes, it’s kinda hard to be bored. New Zealand is known for its adrenaline pumping activities around every corner, tempting dare devils from across the world.
Being a backpacker taking its toll? Feeling a bit on the chubbs side? No worries…just head on out on one of the many breath-taking hikes in NZ. It’s actually hard NOT to keep active in this scenic country.
The best hike in New Zealand? The Tongariro Crossing, my highlight so far of this spectacular place.
I love the backpacker life. There’s something so special about being surrounded by so many adventurous people with the same outlook on life as you. It’s a sense of freedom and belonging in a community which resides all over the world. So head to NZ to meet tonnes of travellers embarking on a miraculous journey.
Make sure to respect and be insightful about the Maori culture. It’s history tells many special stories we could all learn some valuable life lessons from.
I did an overnight stay at the Tamaki Maori Village near Rotorua. If you get the chance, I could not recommend it enough!
Hobbiton is a must do upon visiting New Zealand. I’m not even a huge Lord of the Rings fan and in all honesty…I’ve never seen the Hobbit. Despite all this, there’s something very enchanting about this place.
Oh and you can also go trek up Mount Doom just like Froddo and Sam.
It goes without saying that New Zealand is out of this world beautiful. Everywhere I look, I am mind blown at the views. Above all, this is the reason to come to this breathtaking country.
